Nebraska Baseball Now Atop Big Ten Standings – Hosts Maryland This Weekend

The Nebraska baseball team now sits atop the Big Ten standings entering this weekend’s action.  The Huskers are 13-5 on the season and are percentage points ahead of Michigan who is second in the league at 12-5 overall.  Nebraska has won 8 of their last 9 and is averaging 10 runs per game during that span.  Cleanup hitter Cam Chick leads the team in RBI with 21 and has six home runs to lead the team.  Head coach Will Bolt met with the media on Wednesday during his weekly press conference and discussed what he thinks has been some of the keys to Chick’s success this season.

Coach Bolt said that there is no change to Nebraska’s approach even though they are atop the Big Ten standings midway through the season.

Nebraska hosts Maryland this weekend for a three game series at Haymarket Park in Lincoln.  The Terrapins are 9-10 and are ninth in the Big Ten standings.  The opening game of the series is scheduled for Friday at 6:30.  Game two is Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday’s game is scheduled for Noon.  The Saturday and Sunday games will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM.
