Nebraska Baseball Atop Big Ten Standings and Headed to Penn State this Weekend

The Nebraska baseball team has enjoyed a very successful season in 2021.  The Huskers sit atop the Big Ten standings with an overall record of 15-6.  Michigan is second at 15-7 with Indiana third (13-7) and Ohio State is fourth (13-9).  The Huskers have won 10 of their last 12 and have put up some big offensive numbers during that stretch.  Nebraska has played the majority of their games to this point against teams in the bottom half of the Big Ten standings and have been able to take advantage.  Nebraska won’t see Indiana until early May and will conclude their regular season when they host Michigan for a three game series May 28, 29, 30.  Head coach Will Bolt visited with the media Wednesday during his regular press conference.  He credited the upperclassmen for buying in to the culture that the coaching staff is promoting and for setting the tone for the rest of the team.

The determination of which teams will host regionals this year will be a bit different than in the past.  Bolt said Nebraska has submitted their bid to host a regional this season.

Nebraska travels to 8-13 Penn State this weekend for a three game series.  Friday’s game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday’s game is set for Noon and Sunday’s game will have an early start time of 10 a.m.  The Friday and Saturday games are scheduled to be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM courtesy of the Huskers Sports Network.
