Moos Says No Truth to Rumor Big Ten Football Could Start in October

President Donald Trump became involved this week in discussing the start of college football in the Big Ten conference. The president announced on Twitter Tuesday that he had a “productive conversation” with Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren about the return of football in the conference. National sports radio talk show host Dan Patrick then cited an anonymous source saying that the Big Ten was aiming for an October 10th restart if the league could “pass updated safety measures and procedures.” Nebraska athletic director Bill Moos refuted the report texting out “Nothing to that rumor”. Tuesday evening on the Big Red Wrap-Up show, Moos said the earliest date that is being considered is around Thanksgiving. Other models would start in 2021 and feature a 7 or 8 game schedule. Moos said that watching other conferences play in September while sitting on the sideline will be tough on Nebraska fans. He said, “Hopefully we can get something happening before too long in a safe manner and get with it.”
