Incoming Nebraska Wrestler Named High School Wrestler of the Year in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Incoming freshman Silas Allred was recognized as Wrestler of the Year in his home state of Indiana on Thursday night during USA Today’s High School Sports Awards show.

Allred was a two-time Indiana state champion and compiled a 146-2 record (with 138 victories by fall) during his time at Shenadoah High School in Muncie, Ind. Since completing his prep career, Allred has been:

  • Named Wrestling Insider Newsmagazine’s (WIN) Wrestler of the Year in Indiana;
  • Selected as a Third Team All-American by Amateur Wrestling News;
  • Chosen as a Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award recipient;
  • Honored as a 2020 Wrestling USA Academic All-American with a 4.317 GPA.

Allred, an integral part of Nebraska’s 2019-20 recruiting class ranked No. 2 in the nation by WIN, projects as a 197-pounder for the Huskers.
