Huskers Jared Seay and Mayson Conner and UNO’s Stephanie Ahrens are All-Americans at NCAA meet

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Nebraska’s Jared Seay and Mayson Conner and UNO’s Stephanie Ahrens each earned first-team All-America honors at the NCAA indoor track and field championships on Saturday.

Seay scored 5,847 points to finish fourth in the men’s heptathlon, which was won by Harrison Williams of Stanford.

Conner, a freshman York graduate, finished seventh in the men’s high jump with a personal record-tying 7 feet, 3¾ inches. He was 2¼ inches behind Alabama’s Shelby McEwen.

Ahrens, a senior from LincolnNortheast Southwest, finished fifth in the women’s high jump at 5-11¼. Zarriea Willis of Texas Tech won at 6-1½.

Nebraska’s Angela Mercurio earned second-team All-America honors in the triple jump, finishing ninth with a mark of 42-8¾.

Arkansas won the women’s title with 62 points, 11 ahead of second-place USC. The Florida men won their second straight championship with 55 points. Houston was second at 44 points.
