Husker players meet with Scott Frost: ‘This is exactly what we need’

Several Nebraska football players gave a big thumbs up to their meeting with new Husker coach Scott Frost on Sunday morning.

“This is exactly what we need,” running back Devine Ozigbo said. “And exactly what this state needs. It’s going to be fun.”

“It was refreshing,” linebacker Mohamed Barry said. “We’re just happy to finally have a coach at the helm and know which direction we’re going.”

Barry, Ozgibo and quarterback Patrick O’Brien said Frost talked about laying a foundation for the future and accountability.

“Love for the game, love for the sport, love for your team,” Barry said. “That’s basically it. We have to bring that back to have the program at the level where it was.”

NU Athletic Director Bill Moos introduced Frost to the players, providing players with Frost’s accomplishments and credentials.

O’Brien said Frost was “quietly confident.” O’Brien said his skill set fits the offense Frost is bringing to Nebraska.

Wide receiver Stanley Morgan called the meeting “cool.” He watched Central Florida’s 62-55 win over Memphis in the American Athletic Championship game and liked the offense.

“It was pretty cool, it was pretty nice,” said Morgan, who just set the school’s single-season record for receiving yards. “I liked the passion he had with his players, the love he had.”

Morgan, who has one year left of eligibility, tweeted last week that he had a decision to make regarding his future. He said the decision wasn’t necessarily related to leaving for the NFL.

“Not like you think I am,” Morgan said.
