ANN ARBOR, Michigan — Nebraska’s softball losing streak grew to 10 Sunday as the Huskers were routed 12-0 in five innings by Michigan.
Meghan Beaubien pitched another gem for the No. 25-ranked Wolverines, allowing just one hit while giving up no walks and striking out seven of the 15 Huskers she faced to complete Michigan’s three-game sweep in the first Big Ten Conference series of the season for both teams.
Nebraska’s lone hit came in the top of the fifth inning, a double by losing pitcher Lindsey Walljasper that broke up Beaubien’s bid for a perfect game. Walljasper gave up seven earned runs with eight hits and a walk in two-plus innings of work.
Fellow freshman Courtney Wallace pitched the last two innings for the 10-16 Huskers. Wallace gave up just four hit but only two of the five runs on her tab were earned as the Huskers committed four errors, including two by shortstop Tristen Edwards
The Wolverines had four home runs at the Wilpon Complex, including two by designated player Mackenzie Nemitz.
Nebraska is scheduled to play its first home games of the season Tuesday with a doubleheader against Drake beginning at 4 p.m. at Bowlin Stadium.
