Former Michigan / Iowa Receiver to Walk On at Nebraska

Receiver Oliver Martin, who played at Michigan and Iowa, enrolled at Nebraska and is planning to walk on to the football team.

A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed it earlier this week. Husker Online first reported his enrollment.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder from Iowa City West had five catches for 56 yards and a touchdown for the Hawkeyes in 2019. In 2018 at Michigan, he had 11 catches for 125 yards and one touchdown before transferring to Iowa.

Martin got a waiver to play immediately at Iowa after transferring from Michigan, but didn’t get as much playing time as other receivers. The Hawkeyes had one of their stronger receiver corps in years with Ihmir Smith-Marsette, Brandon Smith, Tyrone Tracy and Nico Ragaini.

If Nebraska adds Martin, it’ll be the second Iowa scholarship player to walk on to NU’s program in the past several months. Offensive tackle Ezra Miller officially joined the program and is listed at 6-foot-6, 310 pounds.

Martin was a consensus four-star prospect out of high school in 2017.
