Former Husker Wins PWBA United States Women’s Open

Former Husker Erin McCarthy took home her second professional title Tuesday evening at the Professional Women’s Bowling Association U.S. Women’s Open in Glen Falls, N.Y.

McCarthy began the stepladder finals as the No. 5 seed and won all four matches to win the title and the $60,000 prize. In McCarthy’s first match of the stepladder, she faced Shayna Ng and took her first victory by a score of 212-178. She went on to edge out Shannon O’Keefe in her second match by a close score of 220-218. Keeping up with the momentum, McCarthy claimed another vital win against the second seed, Jordan Richard, (235-206). Facing the first seed, Danielle McEwan, McCarthy pushed once more to claim the title, by a score of 212-172.

McCarthy won her first PWBA title at the Louisville Open in 2018. She was also on Team USA for three years and finished fifth at the QubicaAMF World Cup in 2017.

During her time at Nebraska, McCarthy assisted the team to win a national championship title in 2009.
