KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Former Husker Cody Asche was one of two players who agreed to minor league deals with the Royals on Thursday.

Kansas City also signed 30-year-old right-hander Mike Broadway, who made 25 appearances for the Giants from 2015-16.

The 27-year-old Asche came up through the Phillies’ system, playing parts of four seasons in the organization. The third baseman/outfielder hit 12 homers with 22 doubles in 2015. Last season with the White Sox, he hit .105 through 19 games.

Asche was a second-team All-American as a junior for the Huskers in 2011.
