Cody Asche found a quick and close landing spot days after being released by the New York Yankees.

The former Husker was signed to a minor-league deal by the New York Mets on Thursday. He will report to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Asche played his first four major-league seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies before appearing in 19 games for the Chicago White Sox in 2017.

He signed a minor-league contract with the Kansas City Royals this past offseason before being shipped to the Yankees. Asche appeared in 16 games for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Yankees’ Triple-A affiliate, hitting .169 with one home run and one RBI.
