Tech Company Working for Disease Cures

OMAHA, NE (News Channel Nebraska) – A Nebraska-based technology company is partnering with a computing project to try to find cures for diseases.

Omaha-based FNTS, a subsidiary of First National of Nebraska, announced Tuesday that it is partnering with Stanford’s Folding at Home project. The project utilizes the unused computing power of volunteer devices to run simulations of protein folding. Then, researchers analyze the simulations to find clues to solving diseases like cancer and Parkinson’s.

FNTS will use its data centers, including its hub in Omaha, to give Folding at Home extra storage allowing the project to analyze results faster.
