State softball officials make adjustments to tournament schedule

HASTINGS – With between a quarter and half an inch of rain possible in Hastings today (Tuesday) and the anticipated poor field conditions tomorrow (Wednesday), the Nebraska School Activities Association has delayed the start times significantly for the state softball tournament, including Auburn’s match-up with Bishop Neumann.

The fifth-seed Bulldogs will now play the #4 Cavaliers at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The game will be played on Field #4 at the Bill Smith Softball Complex. Fans will still be able to listen to the game with News Channel Nebraska on Today’s Best Country, B103 (103.1 FM, b103.fm and ncnsportsnow.com).

“We’ve continued to stay in touch with Hastings personnel and the National Weather Service,” NSAA Assistant Director Dan Masters said. “(The changes) will allow everyone to play a game Wednesday and for the tournament to be completed yet on Friday, weather permitting. We’re hoping for the best!”

Officials also delayed the anticipated start times for Thursday’s games because of the high probability of frost.
