Spring Is Just In Time For Arbor Day 2018

NEBRASKA CITY – Spring is coming just in time for Arbor Day. Plenty of sunshine and 72 degrees is forecast for the commemorative tree planting on Friday at 4:30 p.m. at the Steinhart Park Aquatic Center. The event recognizes Arbor Day honoree Jack Haupt and the tree planter of the year Steven Stukenholtz. The Arbor Day Run starts at the Old Stone Cabin in Steinhart Park on Saturday. The day’s low temperature of 39 degrees is forecast at 7:30 a.m. It will be sunny and 57 degrees for the Pollinator Playground ribbon cutting at Kimmel Orchard at 10:30 a.m. Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch is scheduled to attend. The Arbor Day Market is scheduled at the Eagles Club and a craft and vendor fair is a American National Bank. The weather forecast is sunny and pleasant for Arbor Town Throw Down adult basketball tournament at the high school. The Wildwood Historic Center has farming in miniature and "make and take" pottery. Accuweather gives a “real feel” forecast of 68 degrees for the 1 p.m. start of the Arbor Day parade. Downtown bed races follow. The library hosts the York College Traveling Children’s Theater at 2 p.m. at the middle school. For the Jaycees Fly-In Breakfast on Sunday, temperatures are expected to rise to 60 degrees by 11 a.m. Those who love the rain on Arbor Day will have to wait just one day. Thunderstorms are in the forecast for Monday.
