Plane Slides Off Runway, Eppley Closes Due To Weather

OMAHA – Authorities were called to Eppley Airfield Friday afternoon after a report of a plane sliding off the runway.

Eppley Airfield tweeted that a Southwest Airlines aircraft slid off the end of Runway 14-R shortly after landing.

Authorities say there are no injuries and airport fire crews worked to get passengers off the plane and take them to the terminal.

The airport is currently closed due to weather concerns and all flights are suspended.

Eppley officials are asking travelers to check with their individual airline for its flight status.

UPDATE – Eppley Airfield reports it is now open to aircraft operations. Officials say there may still be delays and to check with your airline for flight status.
