Palmyra Residents Help With Bank Robbery Investigation

PALMYRA - Otoe County sheriff’s deputies say Palmyra residents provided useful information to investigators after the Farmers and Merchants Bank was robbed shortly after opening on Saturday morning. They were masked and committed an armed robbery on the bank.” Briley said deputies secured the area and began to investigate. Their information was turned over to the Federal Bureau of Investigations. Deputies said some leads, such as descriptions, vehicles that were in town and direction of travel, are promising. Everybody was willing to give us whatever information they had, including the surrounding businesses and neighbors.” The Farmers and Merchants Bank celebrated 60 years of service in Palmyra in 2016. The bank is one of 11 locations for Farmers and Merchants, which also has locations in Firth and Weeping Water. Briley said a firearm was brandished inside the bank and the robbers left with an undisclosed amount of cash. They were seen running in the alley west of the bank.
