Motorcyclist dies following collision Wednesday in north Omaha

OMAHA, NE (Omaha World-Herald News Source) –

A 45-year-old motorcyclist died Wednesday afternoon at a hospital following a crash at the intersection of 11th and Grace Streets in north Omaha.

Michael Laughlin of Omaha was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center about 4:30 p.m. with life-threatening injuries, police said. He later died. Drivers of two vehicles involved in the collision were not injured.

Investigators from the Omaha Police Department determined that Laughlin was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson south on 11th Street. A northbound 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Daniel Randall, 37, of Council Bluffs failed to yield and turned left on Grace Street, causing the collision, police said.

The Pontiac then slid into a stopped 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck that was facing east. The driver of the pickup was identified as Steven Oakley, 34, of Plattsmouth.

According to a statement from police, charges related to the crash are pending. The collision remains under investigation.
