PLATTSMOUTH – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a three-vehicle collision on Highway 75 south of Plattsmouth Monday afternoon.
A red, 1992 Chevrolet pickup driven by 63-year-old Leonard Kaffenberger was attempting to turn left into his driveway north of Highway 1. The truck was hit from behind by a black, 2015 Ford Fusion driven by Ashley Baumgart, 22, of Plattsmouth.
Kaffenberger’s pickup was launched into the northbound lane and collided with a white, 2015 Dodge Durango driven by Mariah Husen, 26, of Nebraska City.
A medical helicopter transported Kaffenberger to University of Nebraska Medical Center. Husen and a 10-month-old infant were transported to the medical center by Plattsmouth Rescue. Murray Rescue took Baumgart to the medical center.
The accident occurred on a portion of Highway 75 recently identified for a four-lane expressway.
