SIOUX CITY – A man is in the hospital after his car drove into the Missouri River.
The Sioux City Police Department were called to the banks of the Missouri River near the Chris Larson Park Boat Ramps Wednesday around 3 p.m. for reports of a vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, police found a van in the water and one man swimming to safety. A Sioux City Police Officer entered the water to make sure no one else was in the car.
Authorities say the man got out of the vehicle safely, but was taken to Mercy Medical Center for evaluation.
Sioux City Police were able to get the car out of the river using a boat ramp.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
