Labor Day Weekend Recap: Columbus High Athletics

Columbus High Volleyball: Columbus High is 3-2 following weekend tournament play. The team fell to #4 Gretna and #6 Elkhorn South, but defeated Lincoln North Star. The team will look to improve to 4-2 on Tuesday night, as they take on Aurora, Live on News Channel Nebraska. (Stream the game at www.ncnsportsnow.com)

Columbus High XC: Both Discoverer Cross Country teams had strong performances on Friday, with the boys grabbing 1st Place at the Boone Central Invite, and the girls team grabbing 6th place.

Columbus High Golf: Aspen Luebbe, 85, and Emily Goc, 90, both earned medals at the Grand Island Invite, to lead the team to 4th place with a 361. Luebbe took 7th and Goc finished 15th. Individual Scores: Emily Rotherham 92, Ashley Warner 95, Amber Sanne 98.

Columbus High Tennis: The Discoverer tennis team took 6th place in the Columbus Invite at Pawnee Park over the weekend, capturing five wins on the day. Holdrege took first place.

Columbus High Softball: CHS Softball highlighted the Labor Day weekend action for the Discoverers by defeating Norfolk and Kearney to win the Norfolk invite. The team went 2-1 on the day, defeating rival Norfolk in the final match of the day. See the stats below from head coach Paul Braun.
