Highway 75 Crash Kills Auburn Woman, Tecumseh Student

NEBRASKA CITY - The Otoe County Coroner's Office has confirmed the death of two people from a Highway 75 accident Sunday night near Nebraska  City. Passengers in a Chevrolet pickup were killed. They are 32-year-old Rachel  Curry of Auburn and her step-daughter, Chloe Curry, who is a student at Johnson County Central. Chloe would have turned 16 years old this Wednesday. Grief counseling is being offered at the school, where Chloe was an honors choir member. The crash involved a northbound Buick Ranier SUV. Law enforcement located the driver of the Ranier in Falls City, about 57 miles south of the crash. After receiving medical treatment, the suspected driver remained in custody to be transported to the Otoe County jail. The driver of the southbound pickup truck, 39-year-old Michael Curry of Auburn, was transported to CHI Health St. Mary’s. There was airbag deployment in the Buick and there was loud music coming from the open door just off the highway shoulder, but the driver was not located. An Otoe County K9 unit and the Nebraska State Patrol helicopter were used in the search for the driver.
