Four people are dead and several were injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday night on U.S. Highway 75 in Cass County, authorities said.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Monday morning that four people died in the crash, which occurred when a 2000 Dodge Caravan turned onto Hwy. 75 and was observed accelerating northbound in the southbound lane.  The Caravan then struck a 2013 Ford Mustang head-on just south of Young Rd.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, alcohol is being investigated as a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.

Those killed were Walter Guy Minshall, 57, of Omaha; Brenda Sue Minshall, 49, of Madison; Constance Joann Gillott, 53, of Plattsmouth; and Taylor E. Grasewicz, 20, of Beaver Lake.

Three additional passengers in the Mustang were injured in the accident, according to the department.

The crash, near Beaver Lake, closed down both the north- and southbound lanes of the highway.
