Diller-Odell Shooting for Fourth Straight Playoff Appearance

ODELL - This year's senior class at Diller-Odell has made the playoffs in all three years that they have been with the Griffins, but have only one playoff win to show for it. They're looking for that to change this year. "We want to make it to the playoffs, and this year win a game. We've always made it to the playoffs these past couple years. This year, we want to advance this time," said Senior Peyton Mohr. Last season, the Griffins finished the regular season with a 3-5 record, before falling to Creighton in the opening round of the Class D1 playoffs. Diller-Odell will be replacing some key skilled players in Dylan Wolbert, Reese Hennerberg and Christian McCown. Head Coach Chris Schluter saw his team suffer a lot of injuries, though, giving his young players lots of experience last year. "We learned I  think a lot. We took a young team in, I would say a top level JV team in each week to play against varsity team s and when it came down to it, we lost a couple of our seniors later in the year. We were playing against good competition. We were playing against teams that all made the playoffs and our district champion. They definitely got to see what it was like to play a different level of football." The Griffins play in a district that featured four out of their five teams in the playoffs last year. They open with McCool Junction at home this year. Follow Diller-Odell football all year long on News Channel Nebraska.
