Clerk’s Office Gets Halloween Send-Off In Otoe County

NEBRASKA CITY – It’s a scary time in county government by the looks of things. Halloween has come and the assessor’s office was represented by the haunted bride, a witch, and a bat, zombie and mummy. The treasurer’s office were the minions and the witches were from county court. Otoe County Assessor Christie Smallfoot explains. Smallfoot: “Janene Bennett and Dee Norstadt (of the Otoe County Clerk’s Office) are retiring at the end of the year and they have always been really fun and love Halloween, so we decided to kind of do a last hurrah for them this year, so that’s what we are doing.” Staff members walked the halls and posed for a photo outside of the courthouse on Halloween. The Otoe County clerk’s office dressed as the dungeon of doom. Norstadt is the executioner and Bennet is a dungeon dweller. Mary Webb is dressed as Igor and  Jennifer Bassinger as a prisoner. Bennett said she has encouraged the courthouse staff to dress for Halloween since ancient times. This year, she said, the first floor did it.
