The Central Community College Volleyball team capped off another great season, with a 9th place finish at the NJCAA Division 2 National Tournament. The Raiders faced off with Iowa Central Community College in the 9th Place game, in a match that went to 5 sets. The Raiders were able to start strong, taking the first two sets 25-23 and 27-25. The Raider would drop the next to sets, 18-25 and 12-25, sending the match to a fifth set. In the final set of play, the match remained tight, and would eventually be decided in extra points. The Raiders eventually pulled ahead by 2, in extras, to seal off the win 17-15 win in the fifth. Central Head Coach Mary Young says, "It was a great ending to the tournament and season. We didn't win very pretty and we let a two-set lead dwindle. Still, we found a way to pull together and fight for the win in the decisive set. We finished with three solid wins and anytime you complete a season with a win, it's a great thing." Offensive leaders for the Raiders included Chainey Tompkin had 14 kills, and Jacie Laetsch had 13 kills and 13 digs to mark a double-double. Lexi Holland was the defensive leader for the Raiders at 21 digs, with Paxton Throne garnering 45 assists. The Raiders finished the season with a final record of 36-11, and Central was given the NJCAA D2 Sportsmanship Award. Head Coach Mary Young also snagged her 700th win on Friday.
