Both ranked Wahoo teams ground Syracuse

SYRACUSE, Neb. – The Class C1 #5 Wahoo girls basketball team put three players into double figures and the Warriors improved to 8-2 this season with a 53-38 win over Syracuse Friday night.

Senior Taryn Scheef led all-scorers with 14 points. She also added 3 rebounds. Teammates Kendal Brigham, a sophomore, chipped in 11 points and junior Hallie Reeves scored 10. Reeves also finished with 5 rebounds.

Junior Sarah Moss came off the bench to score 9 points to lead the Rockets, who fall to a 6-3 record. Sophomore Lauren Meyer cleared 6 rebounds.

Meanwhile, top-ranked Wahoo used a 26-8 second quarter and ran away with the boys contest, 77-50, at Syracuse High School.

Senior Cameron Quick was one of four players in double-figures for the Warriors. He had a game-high 19 points and nabbed three boards. Senior Brendan Lacey added 15 and both Billy Hancock and Will Shanahan finished with 10.

The Rockets had three players in double-figures, including junior Will McCoy’s 15 points. Senior Christian Frederick and junior Ben Nannen each contributed 13 points.

Class C1 #1 Wahoo remains unbeaten at 9-0. Both Warrior teams will be on the road Saturday at Crete.

Syracuse falls to 6-4. The Rockets girls and boys teams will host Louisville in key sub-district match-ups on Saturday.
