COLUMBUS - As one Scotus standout finishes her career with Central, another will take her place, as Shania Borchers signs to compete up on the hill.
Central Head Coach Mary Young is saying goodbye to Maeghan Pieper after this season, following a dominate two years with the Raiders, but she is very excited to be welcoming Borchers to the squad, Wednesday morning. Borchers, much like Pieper, is a strong force at the net, and will even be sporting the same number (10) next season.
Young says, "We graduate a couple middles, and she fits the bill, she's mobile, and I think she has a huge upside, A lot of potential, and we're just super excited to have her in our program."
Borchers looks to be a great fit for the Raiders, who are preparing for their 7th strait trip to the NJCAA Division 2 National Tournament.
"I've heard a lot of good things about their program. They're very successful, and it's close to home. Going on my visit, I felt very welcomed, I got to meet with all the players and I just felt like it would be a good fit for me," says Borchers.
Borchers will finish out the school year at Scotus, before beginning her career with the Raiders, and looks to be a standout for the Shamrocks on the basketball court this winter.
Borchers says she plans to pursue a career in nursing.
Columbus High Setter Rylee Kwapnioski and Lakeview Libero Mallory Gotschall are set to sign there letter's of intent to Central later this month.
