Bomb Threat Locks Down Care Center, Verdigre Public Schools

VERDIGRE - A bomb threat in Verdigre on Monday sent a care center and Verdigre Public Schools into a lockdown. Around 9:42 AM, the Knox County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from the Alpine Care Center in Verdigre about a resident who had received a threat. The sheriff's office reports that the resident had received numerous phone calls from the same number over the weekend, and three times Monday morning. During the third call, the suspect told an employee that he was going to bomb the residence and told a Knox County Sheriff's Deputy that he would send a bomb to his residence as well. The suspect is not from the area, and it is believed to be a scammer trying to get information to scam the victim out of money. As a precaution, the Alpine Village Care Center, as well as Verdigre Public Schools, was placed on lockdown. The Knox County Sheriff's Office says that a report will be sent to the FBI for further investigation.
