Ariens Says Satellite Facility At Auburn No Longer Necessary

AUBURN – A company news release says 193 employees will be affected when Ariens shuts down its Auburn manufacturing plant.

Larry Weyers, president of Ariens Power Equipment, says closing the plant was a difficult decision.

Weyers: “It just doesn’t make sense to keep this plant running in light of the significant productivity improvements that have been made elsewhere in the company.”

He said the Auburn facility is producing outdoor power equipment that the company’s Brillion, Wisc., plant did not have the capacity to make. However, a plant re-design and productivity improvements in Wisconsin have made the Auburn satellite facility no longer an economical option.

Ariens recently opened a consolidated distribution center in Wisconsin, where its manufacturing plant employs 1,000 people.

The plant shutdown is expected to be complete between Aug. 17 and Oct. 15.
