DAVID CITY – Tyler Vavrina is set to play college hoops, after recently signing his letter of intent to play for the Morningside Mustangs.

Vavrina says he is excited to continue his athletic career at Morningside College, once he has finished his time at Aquinas Central Catholic.

Vavrina, a leading scorer on an Aquinas basketball team with state ambitions, is an elusive guard and a rangy shooter that will fit well in the Morningside system.

“The coaches up there, the guys up there, they plays as a team, they look as a team, and it just looks like fun to be around,” says Vavrina.

Vavrina says Morningside is a great fit for what he wants to study, before coming back to farm in the area, after college.

“I went on a visit at the beginning of the school year. It was a nice campus, a really nice campus, but I just love the basketball team, and how they play as a team,” says Vavrina.

Vavrina says before heading to college, he will return for his final season of Legion Baseball this summer, as David City looks to defend their State Championship run from 2017.
