300 Pounds Of Marijuana Seized On I-29 Near Hamburg

SIDNEY – Deputies in Fremont County, Iowa, found 300 pounds of marijuana valued at $2.8 million after an Interstate 29 traffic stop near Hamburg Friday. A sheriff’s deputy stopped a 2017 Chevy Coachman RV and a county K9 alerted to the presences of controlled substances. Sheriff Kevin Aistrope says a search of the vehicle uncovered high grade marijuana. Deputies arrested 65-year-old Richard Jordan of Elizabeth City, NC, 44-year-old Elwood Perry Jr.,   of Chesapeake, Va., and Patrick Hawes, 45, of Norfolk, Va. The men are charged with possession with intent to deliver more than 100 kilograms. They are held at the Fremont County Detention Center without bond, pending an appearance with a magistrate. The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa Division of Narcotic Enforcement.
