164 Pounds Of Marijuana Found Near Nebraska City

NEBRASKA CITY – The Nebraska State Patrol arrested two Florida men Sunday morning and seized 164 pounds of marijuana near Nebraska City. 36-year-old George Wood Jr. and 30-year-old Travis Hardin appeared in Otoe  County Court Monday, where bonds of $150,000 were set on charges that include possession of 4,700 marijuana cigarettes, 500 units cannabis oil, 500 units cannabis wax and 100 boxes of vapor pens. Deputy Otoe County Attorney John Palmtag said while neither men have an extensive criminal history, he regards them as a flight risk. Palmtag: “Mr. Wood has no ties to the state of Nebraska other than being stopped here with an incredible amount of marijuana.” The State Patrol stopped a Nissan Rogue on Highway 2 at 11:55 a.m. on Sunday for following too closely. Marijuana in large duffle bags and individually sealed packages was found. Hardin said he is not a flight risk. Hardin: “Running would just make it worse, where I would have people kicking in my door.” Public defenders were appointed and preliminary hearings set for Nov. 26.
