#1 Aquinas Survives Scotus in Thriller

COLUMBUS, Neb. - Although they were winless on the year, the Scotus Shamrocks came to play against number one Aquinas. But after all, the Monarchs survived and took down Scotus 17-16 in Columbus on Friday night. Aquinas started off the night with a Kyle Ruth pick six, but then Scotus scored to touchdowns to take the lead, one from Eric Mustard and the other from Ryan Palmer. Andy Lyons of Aquinas responded quickly after that, to give Aquinas the 14-13 lead. But it would not last long, as Scotus grabbed a field goal before halftime. The game was scoreless in third quarter and into the 4th before, with around 20 seconds left, Aquinas's Trevor Siroky knocked in a field goal to give the Monarchs the victory. Aquinas will next face Bishop Neumann, while Scotus plays GICC next week.
