LIVE: Run for the Fallen trekking through southeast Nebraska

Honor to Remember’s “Run for the Fallen,” recognizing nearly 20,000 Fallen Service Members since the USS Cole, is officially in Nebraska and local runners are making their way up Highway 75.

On this 74th Anniversary of D-Day, runners are expected to be at Memorial Way in Nebraska City at 4:30 p.m. for the final Heroes Reading of the day, followed by a ceremony. The runners will also stop at Fareway at 4:20 p.m.

Southeast Nebraska citizens are encouraged to line Hwy. 75 and in the towns of Auburn and Nebraska City to pay respects to those who we lost in the field of battle.

The run started on April 7 in Irwin, Calif. and will end at Arlington National Cemetery on Aug. 5.
