Loup Basin Public Health Department H1N1 vaccine update
According to a news release sent out by the Loup Basin Public Health Department, 29,850 doses of H1N1 vaccine has been administered in Nebraska as of October 24th. Providers and other medical entities in the Loup Basin Health Department’s nine county health district have administered 663 doses of the H1N1 vaccine. LBPHD has received 2% of the vaccine allotted to Nebraska by the CDC based on the population of the health district. The LBPHD continues to receive limited amounts of H1N1 vaccine and supplies and will continue to distribute these to the medical community as quickly as possible. The vaccine will continue to be distributed to individuals in the five priority groups that were designated by the CDC, which are, pregnant women, people who live with or care for infants younger than 6 months of age, health-care and emergency services personnel, persons between the ages of 6 months and 24 years, and people from ages 25-64 years who are at higher risk for novel H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems.
