Custer County Chief celebrating 125 years

Congratulations to the Custer County Chief for celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.  Publisher Bill Parsons has been with the Chief for two years and is grateful for the loyal readers and advertisers of the community paper.

“We are very very thankful for those people. They’ve kept us in business all these years, you know, starting back in 1892. And for a paper to continue in operation for that long speaks very well from the foundation to the community it serves,” Parsons explains.

Horizon Publications owns the Chief, but it is still operated and printed locally. Parsons said it has been a pleasure to work with the Chief staff and serve as the caretakers of the publication. The staff consists of veterans and newcomers, all of which are proud to represent Custer County.

“Our goal every day would be to produce the very best weekly newspaper we possibly can. You know, I’m very proud of the staff there and their dedication to the community,” said Parsons.

All are invited to join the Chief staff on Friday, May 19 from 11-2 for a hot dog lunch, door prizes and a tour of the facility, including the press room (305 South 10th Avenue in Broken Bow). There will also be cake and a chance to win $125 in chamber bucks! In case of inclement weather, the lunch will be moved to the Municipal building across the street on 10th Avenue.
